Today my dad passed away following an accident near his home in Ticino.
He was a great man whose courage and generosity marked a lot of people.
Rest in peace Dad! Thanks for everything you gave me!

Starting a charity - What a feeling !
Labels:

kaicedra
Today we "officially" created our charity "Kaïcedra". Statutes are signed and filed with the State of Geneva! We will support sustainable community initiatives in Burkina Faso in West Africa. What a feeling!
We're four people in this adventure: Françoise, Sabine, Sarah and myself. All with our own network, we hope to engage people in making change happen in the remote villages of Irim and Gorin, north of Burkina Faso. Our first project will be the construction of a classroom, not a small feast when one considers we have to collect 24,000.- Sfr. by June of this year!
The current classroom is made of straw and wood and welcomes 54 children. We visited it on our trip last December. After our visit, the village elders sat us down under their palaver tree and told us how important education was for their children and how their biggest wish was to have proper school infrastructures.
You can visit the charity's website at www.kaicedra.org (only in French so far).
If you want to help and fund a part of the classroom, check www.kaicedra.org/donner

Geneva Graffiti - Take 2
I have just a few more photos to share but not enough really on the account of a busted ankle. Going to Manchester and Berlin this summer so maybe the collection will be extended
I have a soft spot for these ones. Found on a street that I used to take every day going to shool and that I visited recently again.
This is the most elaborate graffiti I came across. It's on the wall of a squatted house in Eaux-Vives. I cannot believe that a gang member dared overwrite on it. Sacrilege!
Another one in the same street, not quite the same register but really fun! One of my favourite so far!
A few more will be coming this way soon.
Good Sunday all!

Geneva Graffiti - Part 1 of many I hope
Hello all,
As a response to my friend Chris' blog graffiti stories, I thought I would share some of Geneva's fun graffiti here too.
I will try to upload a few a week now that I have a proper camera on my new phone.
Here the first two shots, captured just round the corner from University in the Plainpalais area.

Back online - and it's about time!
Some of you might have heard that I was battling with my hosting provider after months of not being able to post here. It is FINALLY resolved!
I had cervical osteoarthritis and severe pain in my neck and right arm. The prodecure I went through is called "Cloward's procedure". The disk between my C5/C6 vertebrae was removed, the bone spurs closing the spinal canal also and the disk replaced by a carbon box.
It spent a week in hospital and now started my recup time (could be up to 6 weeks off work). I will keep you guys posted here.
